school work, it will drain you, and you will not enjoy your time.
[University] years go by quick, so enjoy them."

like to maintain an interest in race cars, Chris plans to obtain an MBA
and ultimately start his own company and expand the business.

Engineering Dinner Dances, S-Dance and Suds events. To relax, Ellen
plays pick-up basketball at Hart House.
Advice to new
students: "Advice I would give would
be not to be shy. University is your chance to start fresh, to be who
you want to be and to find kindred spirits. There is no such thing as
'too outgoing' in UofT Engineering so go for it!"

take a PEY in her 4th year and work in Ireland - her ultimate goal is

Julie Hommik,

Hometown: North York, Ontario
(lives in off-campus housing, walks)

Concrete Canoe Co-Padding Coach. An athlete for Varsity Figure Skating,
Julie still finds time to be a Skule Sisters Mentor. Her other

and being a F!rosh Leedur.
Advice to new
students: It is essential to dedicate
enough time to your friends and to having fun, and a great way to
do this is to get involved in extra-curriculars. I made the mistake in
first year of not getting involved; I enjoyed second year so much more
after getting involved an a vast array of activities. The easiest
way to adjust to University is to keep doing what you love.
Future
Hopes: My future
hopes are not yet concrete, with many possible careers still being
considered. These include biomedical engineering, renewable
energy engineering, business, and academia. I'm hoping that my
next year on PEY will help guide me towards finding my ultimate career.

friends. Do not neglect studies in First Year, as completing it
successfully is the first major milestone in higher education."

ASME, MECH Club and the
Engineering Society (EngSoc). Alexander is also a member of the
UofT Swing Dance Club.
Advice to new
students: "If you do the homework every
day, study before quizzes, tests and exams there is no reason you can't
get straight A's, even with your hobbies, significant
other and clubs. Just don't overdo it on the extra-curriculars."
Future
Hopes: Alexander is
considering a few prospects at the moment - his current choices are
NASA scientist or neurosurgeon.
