1. Library Cards & Facilities
Library cards are obtained at the Robarts library.  Note that there is a separate card required if you also plan to use the inter-library loan facility (to get books from other universities).

The University Library system consists of more than 50 libraries containing more than 14 million volumes and is growing at a rate of about 200,000 volumes a year.  The system is one of the ten largest in North America.  There are over fifty libraries on campus in various areas of specialization with the majority of books held in a few main centres.

The Engineering Library is part of the University of Toronto Library, and provides a convenient source for texts and journals relevant to graduate work in this department.  The Engineering library is located on the second floor of the Sandford Fleming Building (east side) facing King's College Road.

2. Office Space and Door Keys
All full-time degree students should contact the MIE Graduate Studies Office for information on obtaining keys and office space.  A form to apply for building access keys and office space is available on the departmental website.

3. Computer Accounts
All degree students should contact the MIE Graduate Studies Office for information on obtaining a computer account.  You should login on to your account frequently to receive electronic mail, special news about graduate programs, etc.  A form to apply for a computer account is available on the departmental website.

4. Mail
You may receive daily mail through the departmental address.  Please contact the main business office, MC 134, for information.

5. Common Room
The staff common room in the Mechanical Engineering Building, Room MC 330, can be used for social meeting and lunches.  The access code is available in the Graduate Studies Office.  Coffee and hot chocolate are available through a vending machine.

6. Services to Disabled Persons
A coordinator is available to provide personal support, liaison with academic and administrative departments on campus and with agencies off-campus, and to organize volunteers to help in various ways.  For further information, refer to the SGS Calendar or contact:

7. Day Care Services
There are several day care centres located on or near campus.  There is a listing available from the Office of Student Affairs at the University of Toronto,

8. Campus Parking for Students
A limited number of student parking permits are issued monthly on a first-come, first-served basis to students holding valid student cards.  The Parking Manager is responsible for the supervision and administration of parking lots.  Any questions concerning parking areas should be referred to the Parking Services office:

10. Purchasing Department
Requisition Forms can be obtained from Sheila Baker at MC123 during regular office hours.  To make an order, fill out the form and return it to Purchasing, making sure it is signed by your supervisor for approval.

11. Machine Shop
The Machine Tool Lab (MC 106) is a well equipped machine shop offering professional machining and student training services.  Please visit MC 134 for more information on accessibility.
