Before joining UofT, I spent 10 years in the
biotech industry both in US and Canada, developing data management
technology and large scale information infrastructures for leading
genomic information, proteomics and drug discovery companies. For the
past three years, I served as Senior Vice-President and Chief
Information Officer at Protana (former MDS Proteomics), a Canadian
proteomics discovery company. From 2001 to 2002, I was Director of Data
Management in Target Validation and Drug Discovery at Incyte Genomics.
Between 1997 and 2001, I was the Director of Gene Expression Data
Management and played a lead role in the development of Gene Logic's
Gene Express and Genesis product lines. I have also held staff
scientist positions at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory and Affymetrix. In
my industrial practice, I applied my formal training in knowledge and
data management, to enable science and technology driven organizations
to generate, organize and interpret scientific data, and to leverage
their data to make discoveries and/or generate information products. In
my research program, my goal is to draw from my industrial experience
and investigate flexible and efficient, next generation information
architectures for biomedical and health science organizations.
