Alumni - How to Get Involved

Alumni from the University of Toronto can easily get involved in a variety of events held throughout the year. Events being held include career panels, networking receptions, the annual career fair, job shadowing, informational interviews and the guest speaker series.

As part of the Leaders of Tomorrow Program, the MIE Department hosted a Student/Alumni Networking Breakfast in November 2007. The event was met with great success.  It gave students the opportunity to learn more about the different career paths our alumni take. It also gave alumni the opportunity to share their experiences and network with other MIE alumni.

The theme of this event will be Interview prep. I am looking for alumni who will be willing to share interview tips and advice with our students. We are also going to have you conduct mini-mock interviews with the students and offer feedback on their performance.

There are some really great services offered here through the Engineering Career Centre to help students with job preparation, but we think there is great benefit in the students being able to practice with and receive tips from our own alumni.  After all, who better to guide them then those who have been through the job searches and are now on the other side of the interview table.

Event Details

Date: Thursday April 3rd, 2008

Location: Room 202, Galbraith Building, 35 St George Street

Time: 7 am – 9 am

This event will allow alumni to re-connect with the department and offer guidance and advice to students currently studying in MIE. We encourage you to re-engage with the department and fellow alumni by taking part in preparing the next generation of graduates to enter the work force fully prepared.

Students prefer speaking directly to alumni, as alumni have been through the same education system, and these events help to facilitate such communication.
